Book your Visit

SV Glenlee is currently undergoing a programme of extensive restoration in preparation for her move to the Riverside Museum, late spring 2011. As a result, the ship will be CLOSED to the public in the interim. During this period, the Captain’s Accommodation will be fitted out, fantastic new interactive exhibits will be installed throughout the ship and a new lift will improve access to the lower decks! It is an exciting time and we hope you will bring your class along when we re-open next year.
In the meantime, the Education Team have designed a variety of self-guided and character –led workshops linked to the Pumphouse Gallery exhibition:
‘Titanic: Honour and Glory’
18th Sept – 28th Feb
All sessions MUST be booked in advance.
Please call Lisa or Fiona on 0141 222 2513 for more information or to book your visit. We recommend you make your booking as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
Lunch Facilities
Packed-lunch facilities are available to pre-book. Picnic benches are available on the quayside throughout spring and summer. We regret that dining space in the café is limited and not available to groups and schools.
Toilets
Toilets, including disabled toilet, are located in the Visitor Centre and onboard the ship.
Gift Shop
There is a Gift Shop and Café located in the Visitor Centre selling a wide range of souvenirs, hot drinks and pocket money priced items for children. Please ensure that pupils are supervised in this area at all times. The shop is small and can become overcrowded easily. If possible, please bring the children to visit in small groups of around 8-10 pupils.
Access
There is disabled parking, a coach drop off point and level access out onto the quayside. Please note that the Titanic: Honour and Glory exhihibition is NOT wheelchair accessible. Please call to discuss your requirements in advance. Disabled toilets are situated in the visitor centre and on board the Glenlee. The gift shop and cafe are not wheelchair accessible, but refreshments can be taken to the Lower Gallery.
Safety
A Risk Assessment is sent out with booking confirmation and is available on request. All groups should have adequate supervision, on ratio of at least 1 adult for every 8 children aged 5 to 16 years and 1 adult for every 5 children under 5 years.
Arrival and Departure
Please ask your driver to drop the group at the entrance steps and park in the car park.
Please ask one member of staff to report to Reception with numbers and payment. The remainder of the group should wait by the Disabled Entrance where they will be met by a member of the education team.
Arrange for the bus driver to pick your group up outside the building after their visit at a set time.
