Volunteering

Volunteering

Volunteers have been essential to the progress of the organisation since the restoration of the Glenlee began in 1993. We opened to the public in 1999 and volunteers continue to play a vital role in our development.

There are various volunteering roles at The Tall Ship that you may like to consider:

1. Front of House/Events Staff

  • Working in the reception/shop/cafe area
  • Helping with special events at the Tall Ship
  • Helping with fundraising for the ongoing maintenance and restoration.

2. Volunteer Tour guides / Interactors

  • Welcoming visitors to The Tall Ship and answering some of their questions
  • Conducting booked guided tours
  • Costumed interpretation

3. Volunteer Education/Museum Assistants

Examples of possible projects:

  • Helping with school or adult groups
  • Producing labels for the ship and the galleries
  • Carrying out research relating to collections on display and in store (ongoing)
  • Researching the history of the ship

Please note that we cannot guarantee a placement but will try to find a suitable role based on your interests, skills and experience.
